contrasts

What a glorious summer day! And what a glorious day to worship!

Before the message was given during worship this morning, a short video was shown. In the video the interviewer was stopping people on the street and asking them two questions - what was Jesus was like? what are Christians like? (or something like that...the interviewer was looking for descriptive words) - on the video the answers were in two parts. The first part you heard what today's culture thought about Jesus, the second part you heard what they thought about Christians of today. What a sharp contrast of answers! Day and night. Light and darkness. A very sad testimony of how believers are seen in today's world. We are not drawing others to Jesus, but instead repealing them. There is not an authenticity, a realness, a love for others as we live our lives as believers.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." ~ Psalm 139:23-24

Truly, I do not want to be a stumbling block to anyone coming to know my Savior. I desire to be emptied of self so only Jesus will be seen. Quite a task for God since I can't do it on my own - thankfully he's in the impossible business!

Blessings,
