over and over again

"Not only must our relationship to God be right, but the external expression of that relationship must be right. Ultimately God will let nothing escape, every detail is under His scrutiny. In numberless ways God will bring us back to the same point over and over again. He never tires of bringing us to the one point until we learn the lesson, because He is producing the finished product. It may be a question of impulse, and again and again, with the most persistent patience, God has brought us back to the one particular point; or it may be mental wool-gathering, or independent individuality. God is trying to impress upon us the one thing that is not entirely right.............Whatever it is, God will point it out with persistence until we are entirely His." ~ Oswald Chambers

Ouch!

My husband and I were doing our early morning chatting which is our routine before the day begins. We were talking about the kids and a couple of particular character traits that needed refining in them. Without proper training now, they could have problems as they get older and it will be that much harder to correct then. Consistency. It's hard when there's a houseful because life is full of interruptions, but it's a critical part of the child training process. It requires me to be more disciplined and focused so that I may not overlook details and can catch them in process. It means I'm going to hear a lot of "ohhhh, mom" with a sigh or two following. And I already know it means going over and over again details that need correction. But, I love them. It's worth it.

And doesn't God do that with us, too? The term that is familiar to me from a women's Bible study is "going around that mountain again" until the lesson is learned. He never tires from doing that in our lives. He sees the finished product and knows what has to happen to get there. And how often do we say, "ohhhh, God" and follow that with a sigh or two as we know we are back at that point? Oh, we know when there's some yuck in our lives that needs work and sometimes our human natures just wants to wallow in it. And honestly, we can't do it on our own anyway. We need to do it with God. With His strength. With His power. With His might. I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me! And with that knowledge comes the even sweeter knowledge of how much He loves me and will walk with me as I grow into the finished product He can already see :-)

May you see the over and over agains on your garden path not as discouragements, but as encouragements from a loving God!

Blessings,
Tammy ~@~

Oh, He is a faithful Father! If the dross is not skimmed off from the first "firing", He will fire it up again! He is looking for pure gold. Thanks for the thought, Tammy.
