spelling definition practice

During one of our weekly "mom irons while giving spelling tests" lessons, one of the words was:

indulgent: lenient, tolerant, pampering

The sentence in the book used for this word was:

Grandparents have a reputation of being indulgent with their grandchildren. Grandparents have a reputation of being lenient, tolerant, pampering with their grandchildren.

Even though we had littles in our household when our first grandchild arrived, it has been fascinating to see how differently my heart has reacted to this precious little one. It really is difficult to put into words the type of love you feel as a grandmama. And I'm certain that this love does tend to lead to a bit of being lenient, tolerant, and pampering.

A recent example. The sweet little miss was in need of some bigger shoes, so we looked for the bag that had those sizes in them to send them off to her (yes, our scenario isn't typical as the shoes we sent had been worn by my youngest daughter within the last couple of years). With the shoes were several tissue paper wrapped dollar store surprises for my sweet curly-haired dimple-cheeked granddaughter to be opened one by one on days when she wakes up with that twinkle in her eye...and before she actually gets into trouble as we don't want to be rewarding her two year old disobedient moments. Hopefully these new surprises will keep her busy and out of trouble which would bless her sweet expectant mama, too!

Oh, what fun! Oh, what joy! The reward of future generations is a blessing indeed!

It was definately a blessing last night at Bible study to pull out a few of those wrapped "presents" and let them keep her occupied while I taught. :-) Thanks for thinking of her (and me!) Hugs!
