on my heart this day

On my heart this morning is not your typical Mother's Day post. Yes, this is a day filled with great joy as children honor their mother.

But it can also be a day filled with sadness as many remember a mother who has gone home to be with the Lord. A day filled with sadness as women struggle with infertility and long to be mothers. And it may be a day filled with heartache as indescribable guilt, shame, and pain flood the hearts of those affected by abortion.

I was startled recently by a statistic given by a speaker at a out of three people in this country have been affected by abortion. The woman herself, the partner whether a boyfriend or husband, the siblings and grandparents (who often don't find out until years later), the friends who were confidantes or the driver to the clinic. And many of these people are sitting next to us in a church pew on a Sunday morning unable to share this secret for fear of condemnation as they deal with what feels like a sin untouchable by God.

If you are one of those affected, can I share something with you on this day?

God loves you. He loves you more than could ever be measured in our human terms for His love is abundant and deep. With His love God paid the price for ALL sin through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. A death that was not to condemn the world, but to save the world. Every single sin can be brought to the foot of the cross and forgiven. Forgiven completely and fully. God desires to be reconciled with you through that gift of forgiveness and allow healing to come into your life.

If you are ready for those steps of healing to begin, can I share with you an online resource that can help through their love and compassion for you?

Abortion Recovery InterNational
is a Christian ministry that encourages and supports healing for those who are hurting from abortion. It is a place with information which includes a listing of caring programs and services around the country to help you heal.

May hope is that by sharing my heart on this day, someone will receive the gift of healing through God's great love. I can't think of a better Mother's Day gift than that, can you?

Tammy, that was a wonderful post. Many times this is not addressed on Mother's Day. Thank you for being an agent of Healing for those who will need these words.
