thankfully unchanging

Last night at Bible study our topic was on philosophy and ethics. It was interesting to consider how our own personal worldview can be swayed by the culture we live in, especially in today's world where a Biblical worldview is being rejected. Laws and rules are more easily changed by the influence of public opinion polls or surveys. He who speaks LOUDEST seems to hold the most power in changing our beliefs. It's hard to keep up with in a world that is so filled with words.

And yet.

God is unchanging. His Word is TRUTH and stands firm.

"He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind." ~ First Samuel 15:29

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." ~ Hebrews 13:10

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." ~ James 1:17

In a world that is constantly changing, I'm ever thankful for a God who is not!

Although the trees around me are changing their colors to breathtaking brilliance, He who created them is not changing.

Although the political landscape is rapidly changing its philosophy, God will remain on the throne as King of Kings.

Although the world can rationalize sin making it look acceptable, God will not change His mind about sin.

Although I mess up on a regular basis and justify my own selfishness, God's grace and mercy toward me is as unchanging as His love for me as His child. How thankful I am that His gift of salvation does not get taken back each time I am disobedient!

Yup, I'm definitely thankful that God is an unchanging God who remains the Solid Rock in my life and whose every word I can trust no matter what is happening within me or around me!
