the first steps of twenty-ten

"And now let us welcome the new year full of things that have never been." ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

A new year always reminds me of looking out the window at a fresh deep snow.  Not a single footprint yet made.  There's excitement with wanting to take those first steps, yet hesitation in not knowing the actual depth of the snow.

And yet a new year does not allow us to sit and wait and ponder.  We have no choice but to go forward with each day.

With all of our family home right now, we've been talking about many of the changes, challenges, and events that will be ahead in twenty-ten.  The support and encouragement of family members is a comfort that comes with hearts being knit together.  Even greater though is knowing that the Lord goes with our family into the territory of a new year.

"Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." ~ Joshua 1:9

May you, too, be encouraged as the new year stretches out in front of you knowing you will never walk a step of it alone!

Blessings,
