how does your garden grow?

My eye is drawn to spring or garden theme type of books and I couldn't resist this book called Up, Down, and Around written by Katherine Ayres and illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott.  It was a fun library book for my grands to read through and look at the pictures while they were visiting.
The book very simply tells the journey of a garden from planting seeds to harvesting the vegetables as it describes how each plant grows.  Some grow up.  Some grow down.  Some grow around.
The pictures are fun to look at because there's so much activity going on in each scene.  Being an experienced gardener, my eye immediately found all the garden pests.
Bunnies and potato bugs and those little green caterpillar things that eat my broccoli as well as a host of other little critters.

It's a fun book for preschool to lower primary grades children to read and now is the perfect season to read it!
