to honor by seeing

 "Ohhhhh, say can you see......."

As our nation pauses on this day to remember and honor those who have bravely died in military service, my own heart wonders if our nation sees?

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty." - John F. Kennedy

Does our nation see?  Is survival, success, and sacrifice still the heartbeat of a country founded on liberty?  Or have the excessives that have come with liberty actually blinded our fellow countrymen to the necessary price as these very liberties silently slip away?

Perhaps my own heart is more sensitive as I see the willing sacrifice a son has made to go through grueling training, live in less than ideal conditions, and serve in hazardous parts of the world?  Sacrifices which he voluntarily endures courageously putting his life on the line for our country's liberty.

May your heart see, remember, and honor on this day!

Blessings,

How true. Canada doesn't celebrate Memorial Day ~ we have Remembrance Day on November 11, which combines the aspects of Memorial Day and Veterans Day ~ but these are always good thoughts to keep in mind.
