a grain stop

Having gotten up early this morning to travel through city traffic for a couple of hours, it was nice to finally drive in less traffic and much easier to pull on and off for a gas station stop.  Although this wasn't the first time I've stopped at this place for gas on my travels, they didn't have this special addition the last time we stopped here a few years ago.
A petting zoo.  Nothing too extravagant plus the animals had just been fed when we walked through the area so they weren't very interested in us, but still fun to see some critters we typically don't see much of around home.
One of my daughters quickly spent a quarter or two for a grain mix to feed to the animals....
.....while my littlest seemed to prefer to watch from a distance and gave up her handful of grain to her older sister because she decided she didn't want those animals licking her hands!

Ahhhhh, yes, it was a nice break for the girls during a long ride and a good opportunity for me to get out of the car to stretch my legs and wake up a bit!

May your summer trips have unexpected and fun breaks, too!

It is nice to do something different once in a while, isn't it? :)

Yes, it is! Seems random events stick to the memory better :-)
