hiding from the sun

My sunflowers are starting to open up and bloom.
Well, except this one who is still hiding!  I don't think I've ever noticed a sunflower in this stage before.  They are either totally closed or totally open when I see them. Looking forward to seeing those yellow petals stretching out to the sun!

Enjoy the sunny days of summer while they are still here!

That is beautiful! What does it remind me of- a spool of hemp or something you would see at Old World Wisconsin? The pattern is amazing!

That is a very cool picture. It's so full of promise.

I have a whole bunch that are in that stage right now, too. I only have three open ones, but I'm sure to have many more!! I planted a variety pack, so I'm looking forward to all the browns, burgundies, coppers, oranges, and yellows! (I posted a picture of one in today's TT post)

Sharing a couple of pics I took last year. I should go out and find some this year.

Interesting observation, Anita!

It is full of promise, Amanda, and is so beautiful now that it has opened.

I've been planting a variety for several years, too, Tammi, and look forward to each one opening up!

Now's the time to go looking for them, Jenny!
