be a people changer

Reading through a familiar passage in the Bible, I was struck by how I usually only consider the first few lines and don't really think about the rest of them:

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." ~ First Timothy 2:1-4

When you consider all the political type discussions going on around us which include a fair amount (or massive amount) of grumbling and complaining and fault finding, I'm going to speculate that there isn't an equal amount of praying going on for these government officials.

WHAT IF we did what was good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior and truly committed to a lifestyle of prayer for these people?  That they would come to the knowledge of truth and become saved?  Wouldn't that have the most powerful impact on the decisions of those in high places as it would turn their hearts to our Heavenly Father for His wisdom?  What if all their decisions were based on God's Word on not on the breeze of unstable public opinion?

Not only that, but it seems that when we pray for others - especially those who are difficult people in our lives which would include politicians - OUR heart changes in the process, too.  Prayer gives us different eyes to view them so we have a peek into how He views them.

So as someone who may feel small and insignificant in the scheme of world history, use the powerful tool of prayer to be a people changer!

Blessings,
