Simple Woman's Daybook for July 29

For July 29

Outside my window.....the skies are completely blue with nary a cloud and the promise of a warmer day.

I am thinking.....about the fact this month is almost over and we're headed into August already.  Where has the summer gone?

I am thankful.....for God's wonderful protection over us with all the traveling we've done recently.

I am wearing.....capris, a long-sleeved running shirt, my bright yellow hoodie, and fuzzy socks to warm up my feet.

I am hearing.....the sound of a neighbor's lawnmower.

I am wondering.....if the summer will warm up enough to allow some of my longer-growing crops to mature in my garden.  Right now I can't imagine having watermelons or pumpkins because the plants still haven't taken off like they normally would have by this time.

I am creating.....a filing system for the piles of paperwork I have around here.  Of course, some of these papers are going directly into the round filing cabinet :::wink:::

I am going.....to travel today to attend a visitation for a favorite aunt who passed away before the weekend.  She was such a wonderful hand-written note writer through the years which is becoming a long lost art in today's world.

I am continuing to read.....through the book of Esther as I get closer to finishing a Beth Moore Bible study I've been facilitating this summer.

I am praying.....for my son's paperwork and God's favor so that he may be discharged from the army this week and move on with life with his new bride.

I am remembering.....how God has been moving in my life through the years with specific events that have led to this moment in time.  It reveals how amazingly faithful He is and how He is a God of details.

I am hoping.....to keep picking hydrangeas for awhile yet. They are sooo pretty!

On my mind.....are all the things on my summer to-do list that I really need to do before summer is over.

From the learning rooms.....it's time to start thinking about the fall and our curriculum that needs to be ordered.

I am learning....that God knows all the details I need to know.  I just have to trust His timing as He reveals them to me.

Noticing that.....the evenings are beginning to get dark earlier.  I will miss those late light nights of summer.

I am looking forward to.....spending time with family that I haven't seen in a long time even if it is under sad circumstances.

Pondering these words....."Christ's purpose in calling us to deny ourselves is that we'd deny our selfishness, ambition, pasts, or any damaged emotions the right to cheat us of His far higher plans for us." ~ Beth Moore

From the kitchen.....are lots of fresh raspberries from the garden.  We were going to bake a pie with them, but we couldn't resist eating every last one from the bowl.

Around the house....I'm finding remnants of children eating where they aren't suppose to be eating.  Hmmm, going to have to have a talk about that with them.

One of my favorite things.....are the smiles of grandchildren.

A few plans for the rest of the week.....include today's visitation service for my aunt, a few days of work, running girls to work, finishing garden weeding, a visit to the chiropractor, meeting with a group of DAR ladies, and continued work on my summer to-do list.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you....
The fun of DIY bridesmaids bouquets at our recent family wedding.  Although I've often thought of my hydrangeas as being a hardy flower, they can be total wimps in a wedding setting.  LOTS of water surrounding their long stems before and after the wedding are essential to keep them looking amazing from start to finish.

Thank you for stopping and visiting my daybook on this day. If you'd like to visit others who are participating in the July daybook or write a journal yourself, please stop over at Peggy's at Simple Woman's Daybook

Blessings,
Tammy

It has been unseasonably cool here in missouri the past week. looks to stay that way this week. Sorry to hear of your wonderful aunt passing. those handwritten notes don't come often enough these days with all the email, texts, etc. I love the Book of Esther, need to revisit it gain soon. I read a great quote today from Becky about education...
