take time to gather

We come to the end of another week.  Time to write for five minutes, no editing, post it, link it up at Kate's Five Minute Friday, and bless the link or five or more before yours with a visit and an encouraging comment.  Today's word is GATHER. Ready?  Set?  GO!

It's been a recent season where I have needed to gather lots of information.  Numbers upon numbers for our business and personal tax work.  Statistic upon statistic for an affiliation renewal for work.  Detail upon detail for a grant application for work.  The gathering process is tedious and frustrating at times because it requires digging, but so worth it when you see the final product.

Shifting gears a bit, yesterday I met with someone for a long lunch.  She was unexpectedly presented with a crisis situation a few months ago that has been quite a trial to walk through and has brought with it several layers of grieving a life that was changed in an instant.  Support of several people was initially present, but as time has passed that has decreased. What's perhaps more notable are the comments that are heard by her now that indicate people really don't know the facts of the situation.  They have surmised a lot of things about her life without gathering the details and information that come from relationship to draw the correct conclusion. And the result is not support, but more pain.

Bottom line......if you care, please take time to gather information so that the final product is healing.

My husband is a CPA, so I hear you about gathering!! Love how you connected it back to our own lives - that without that sometimes tedious time to gather, we don't have the same end-product. Looking at gathering in a new way. Thanks! (Visiting from FMF)
