Wait a minute! It's the Friday before Memorial Day already. May is disappearing before my eyes. Time to write for five minutes on one word. No editing. Post it. Link it up at Kate's Five Minute Friday. Take a few minutes to visit the post before yours and leave behind an encouraging comment. The word for today is RISE. Ready? Set? GO!
It isn't his usual time to rise in the morning. But today was special. A hug and kiss goodbye at the doorway of a quiet sleeping household as he jumped in his car for an 18 hour drive just as the sun was beginning to rise.
It's time for him to rise up to the calling of a new adventure as he spends this summer putting his past three years of college studies to practical use during three months of a summer internship. At least this time of growth will be happening close to the home of an older brother, but it's still pretty far away from his mom.
New places. New faces. New paces. Still carrying with him family traces with laces attached to my heart sticking out of his suitcases.
The growth and potential about to happen over the days ahead puts a smile back on my face as I know he will rise to the challenge.
Turning back into the quiet house for my first cup of coffee, a prayer or two rises up for him as I begin a new day and look forward to the summer ahead here at home with my ever changing nest.
