a rare sunflower

My daughter's flowerbed within our garden has the claim to the first open sunflower.  This may be one of the darkest sunflowers we have ever had in the garden.  It actually looked black when we saw it from the garden gate.

It was surprising to see how much red was in the sunflower when I downloaded the pictures onto my computer.  It has a beauty of its own.

From my window this morning, I can see a plain old regular yellow sunflower has opened as well close by to the other one.  Glad she wasn't too intimidated to bloom where she was planted.  A good lesson for all of us as they both have beauty!

Blessings,
